My recent sketchbook is now available on Indy Planet’s website. Here’s their blurb about it.

This is the newest sketchbook from Horrorwood artist Brent Schoonover. It contains Brent’s take on many well known characters as well as doodles from his own creation.

The second volume in Brent Schoonover’s annual convention sketchbook series.

I sold out of the book this last con season even thought I only had it for two shows. I’ll be getting more for next year for sure but Indy Planet is a great site to get it from as well. Here’s a few of the pages.

So last night I got the joy of sitting in a crammed bar watching the Green Bay Packers fall short to the Dallas Cowboys (it’s cool, we’ll kick their ass in the playoffs) but I guess the rivalry between me and Astronaut Dad writer David Hopkins over our respected teams had spilled over into the press. David sent me this article.

Sadly we won’t be seeing David in a Green Bay Packers speedo anytime soon. I do suspect he has a closet full of Wonder Woman underwear though. Guy LOVES Wonder Woman.

Chris Murman of Silver Bullets Comic Books has given Astronaut Dad it’s first review and it seems he quite enjoyed it. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the book.

Here are some more photos of some of my recent con commissions. supes.jpg

Old school Superman, this has become a rival to the Hulk as a character I draw the most at cons, always fun.

yoda.jpg

Never really drew the Star Wars characters too much. I did enjoy doing this Yoda and it has sparked something inside me that wants to do more.

The Vision and Adam Warlock were a lot of fun to do. I took what I could remember from the first appearance of Vision on the cover of an old Avengers issue. Warlock was always the bad ass I remember from Infinity Gauntlet. One of the first big events I read as a kid. Thought that skull that held his cape together was the coolest part of his costume.

Got back last night from a nice trip home for Thanksgiving, and kicked it off right with a late night of getting back to work. Didn’t help that every football game was pretty good either.

If you get a chance to listen to Fanboy Radio episode 432, Scott and Oliver were kind to mention me on the show regarding the The Shadow piece I done for the live art show for Heroes 4 Heroes. They also did an interview with me and David that might pop up on Fanboy TV soon. I’ll post the link to that if and when it happens.

Since it’s been a while I figured I’d post some photos of some sketches I did at the con a few weeks back.

bizzaro.jpg

Bizzaro was done as a thank you sketch to the guys at Speeding Bullet Comics for the signing they held for us a few days prior.

ox.jpg

First sketch of the con was of OX from The Enforcers for Luke Hawkin’s Daredevil sketchbook. Ox was a big inspiration for the look of Bruno in Horrorwood. Looking at this sketch I can tell I was confused on which one to draw. Bruno’s face has snuck in a little too much.

emaraldempress.jpg

This one of The Emerald Empress was done for a fellow who ran the Hero Initiative booth right next to us. I’d never drawn her before.

punkgirl.jpg

Free Sketch I did for someone who bought my sketchbook, he just wanted a punk rock type girl. Sorry the photo turned out bad. I’ll post more later this week.

Got back in town Sunday night and getting ready to leave tomorrow for the home town for the rest of the Thanksgiving week.

Had a blast while I was down in Texas. Went to quite a few awesome comic shops such as Speeding Bullet Comics, Titan Comics, and Zeus Comics. They are very fortunate to have such a great selection of great stores to choose from. Here is a photo of me and David at a signing in Norman, Oklahoma at Speeding Bullet.

I was honored to be asked to be one of the artist involved in the Heroes 4 Heroes live art show. Getting a chance to draw along side great artists like Marc Sylvestri, James O’Barr, Phil Hester, Kody Chamberlain, and many others. Here’s a photo of The Shadow piece I did. The piece raised $300 dollars towards the cause.

Got to hang at Wizard World Texas. Wasn’t the best show, wasn’t a bad show either. The best thing was finally getting Astronaut Dad in my hands was a great feeling. The book turned out great and I can’t wait to get it out there for everyone to see.

I won’t be updating the site till I get back. I have some photos I took of the commissions I did while at the show that turned out well so expect to see those in the coming weeks.

Take care, have a good Thanksgiving.

Just wanted to thank everyone who bought one of the illustrations on Ebay. You’ve now made it possible for me to buy Dancing with the Stars tickets for my wife a little less painful on the wallet. Now when she leaves me for Joey Lawrence I’ll have a little more open space in my studio to dwell in misery. If only I could dance the ramba as well as he. Anyway One of the Hulk illustrations had a bidder who backed out so I am going to leave it up for auction. Here’s the link and the image again for reference.

I am heading out tomorrow to head to Texas for the week. I’ll try to post some stuff while I’m done there. I’ll be back just in time to head to Illinois to enjoy Thanksgiving. Updates will be random but hopefully filled with cool stuff like this email I got from Brian Matus, co-host of the Kryptographik horror based podcast. If you look to the left of the sweet tv he has, you’ll notice that is an original Hellboy illustration I did proudly displayed on his wall.

Hey it’s November and that means Christmas is around the corner. I’m sure you couldn’t tell if you’ve stepped inside any business the day after Halloween. I swear they put out this stuff earlier and earlier every year. It’s hard to keep the spirit for so long. Anyway I’m putting some more art up on EBAY to get a little extra cash for the holidays. Here’s the images and the links to their bidding.

This weekend me and the wife had a full blown clean up on the house. We sadly took down all the Halloween decorations inside and outside the house. I decided to spend the entire day in the garage reorganizing things. I also did some racking of the leaves. After all the work me and the wife crashed on the couch for a little while and then headed to bed pretty early, mainly cause we were so tired. It was your pretty typical Minnesota weekend.
Freelance has been a little slow here so I’ve been doing some commission work and some other work to keep things going. Here’s a piece of the Golden Age Sandman. I really enjoyed doing this one and would love to color it sometime done the road.
