What is this blog coming to when I’m quoting Limp Bizkit song titles at the top of my posts? It’s been a little hectic around here with the holidays coming up so this post is going to be all over the place cause I may not get to another one before Christmas.
First up, we have a great review of Astronaut Dad from Katherine Dacey over at School Library Journal.
I still have a few of my Spider-Man Archives Artist Proof Cards available for purchase. Here are a few of the ones I’ve done so far.
Keeping with putting some new artwork up on the site, recently I got a chance to do a really awesome commission. It’s a gift for someone who hasn’t received it yet so I have to be a little vague as to who it’s for. Anytime you get to draw the Red Skull teaming with Simon Barsinister you know it’s a fun time.
The final art on this post is an advanced apology if this site goes quite for the next week or so. It’s the line art for the recently published Toy Story #0. Had a lot of fun playing in Pixar’s sandbox.
Finally on to some major shake ups in the local comic scene. With the national comic convention landscape being changed considerably this year with new shows like C2E2 in Chicago and several date changes for other major shows the MCBA who have been putting on the Minnesota FALLCON and MICROCON have now adjusted their shows for creator convenience. To avoid being one of many two day shows in October they have now decided to create a new two day show in May called The SPRINGCON. It will be held May 15th & 16th at the Minnesota State Fair in the Grandstand, just like the FALLCON used to be. FALLCON will now become a one day event on October 16th in the Progress Center at the fairgrounds taking place of the now defunct MICROCON. I congratulate the MCBA for making these huge adjustments in what I’m sure was a tough decision. FALLCONĀ just celebrated it’s twenty first year and has always been an amazing show. MICROCON was the place where I first sat behind a table at a convention so I’m sad to see it go. SPRINGCON I’m sure will be a great event and I look forward to being there. Onward and upward.
That’s all for now. If we don’t chat before have a wonderful holiday everyone. I’ll be back on here before the end of the year to rant about 2009 and talk about what I hope to do in 2010.
Brent
