Things are going fast and furious at Brent Schoonover Illustration. Not a lot of stuff I can post right now but it should allow for a lot of cool stuff to show in the coming months. So expect a lot of randomness still for the next couple weeks. I’ll try to make it worth your while though.

Recently I did up some samples for a project involving the animated character Shrek. I had never drawn the big green guy before so it took a few sketches and drawings in the sketch book to get a feel for the character. I really enjoyed drawing him and his friends though. Such a great world to play in. I had an idea to take Frank Frezetta’s classic painting “Death Dealer” and bring it to the Shrek’s world of far far away.

While I enjoyed the outcome, the likenesses of the characters were not where they needed to be. Thus this piece eventually got axed from the proposal. Thankfully this blog can act as a land for misfit drawings and give them a place to shine, even if they are not meant to be.
